Meet Jason's band - The Surly Uncles!
Johnny O (a.k.a. Rebecca Olachea) has been playing drums for 35 years. Since the age of 16 they have played everything from blues and classic rock to heavy metal and punk. Known for their powerful approach but thoughtful dynamics they play where their heart and mind takes them. Their first run at Americana was a more Gothic and dark approach with Jim Strange and the Proud and the Damned - a very Johnny Cash mixed with metal influence in the early 2000's - to this new venture on polyamory and Songs About Trucks. You can also catch Johnny playing with the Siouxsie and the Banshees cover band Precious Machinery, as well as the all original party rock band Ladybug Infestation. Johnny is also a dog walker by day, a drag king and occasional stripper by night when not playing drums. Be sure to catch Johnny wherever you can!
Ragon Linde was long lost in the world of Prog Rock and held onto the dream of one day being the next Steve Howe of Yes. Nerd, the people would scoff at such a ridiculous idea. Long banished to the sidelines of the music world, Ragon dabbled as a jazz drummer, and even tried their luck with the goth crowd, but they were pushed further into the dark corners of the music universe. Until one day someone mentioned, "have you tried Alt Country?" They will let you play Lap Steel, Mandolin, and 12 and 6 string guitar. Ragon gave their inner Steve Howe one last try and found themselves playing with Jason Tate's band featuring songs about the alternate lifestyle givings of hipster Oregonians. There was only one catch, lose the kimono, this isn't Rush.
Hailing from Portland, Oregon — a city that has never once asked for country music — Rob is a man whose entire musical identity was built around eyeliner and Robert Smith. He fronts the Cure tribute band Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. He hosts a vinyl radio show. He owns more records than he has friends, and they are all from 1974. Somehow, inexplicably, he now plays bass in a country band. He has described this as "research." Nobody believes him. His bandmates have learned not to ask about his other projects.
